Bleecker Burger in Victoria - Review

Fronting in plain sight between a minicab company and a betting shop and directly opposite a neon and glass fronted Shake Shack at the north end of Victoria station, Bleecker Burger's new permanent location in Victoria is as brilliant as you'd expect.

Seven weeks after the big launch (on 27 January 2017), I bumped into Zan (Bleecker's founder) while sampling the classics from their new kitchen.

Iconic. The 4ft high mounted cut-out of Bleecker's logo takes pride of place on the bare walls.

Triple threat. Bacon double cheeseburger. Angry Fries. Black & white milkshake.

A bit like Mary Poppins. Practically perfect in every way.

Gratuitous close up. THAT cheese. THAT bacon. THAT sauce...

So business is good at Bleecker, and so it should be the way they're serving up these burgers. Really pleased to see that quality hasn't suffered with expansion too. Keep the good work folks :)

Lucky Chip Residency at The Camden Assembly

You all know that Lucky Chip has long been one of my favourite burgers in London, well now there's another place you can get some of their burger action, and it's not East London.

Welcome to the Lucky Chip residency at The Camden Assembly. Kicking off with a launch party on Tuesday 20 September you can eat (some of the best) burgers and listen to a load of great music. All part of the regeneration of Camden Market. Juicy.

Bleecker St. Burger: Summer Sessions on the Southbank

Aside for some pretty British weather, summer MUST be on its way. I know this because Bleecker St. Burger (one of my top picks for the best burgers in London) have just kicked off their summer sessions under Hungerford Bridge on the Southbank.

This new, upgraded, and frankly brilliant, space consists of two containers framing a benched seating area. One of the containers is the burger slinger which serves their burgers, fries, shakes, canned beer and for the first time WINE! The other container serves Sierra Nevada in tap with four other rotating beers (currently Pale Ale, Torpedo, Tropical IPA, and Summerfest) as well as a selection of cans.

They are now officially open (Wednesday 25 May) from 11:30 with 50% off food all day today! Opening hours daily are 11:30-23:00.

[Burger Away Day] Burgers at Bad Egg, CityPoint, London

Organised by the fantastic Camilla, Burger Away Day (#BAD) has become an institution amongst burger lovers. I attended the first BAD which saw Pop Up burger slingers Disco Bistro at The Rising Sun pub serving a French dipped masterpiece.

For it's ninth outing, we were treated with a visit to a new diner - Bad Egg - run by Neil Rankin (formerly of Pitt Cue Co.) and a 3 course special menu. I don't often write about these kind of one off "meat ups" as they tend to be fleeting, and not generally available outside the event. But I just HAD to write a few nice words about this one, because frankly it's burger pornography in motion.

Chicken fried burger with bone marrow cheese. That's what the menu said. And that's EXACTLY what we got. With a twist.

The Bleecker Black from Bleecker St. Burger in Old Spitalfields

Every now and again, a burger stops me dead in my tracks. It's not something I ever expect, but when it happens it gives me immeasurable pleasure.

There are lots of great burgers in London these days, and everyone and their dog has an opinion (did you know there are now more than 15 blogs dedicated to the London burgers, most of which have sprung up in the last 18 months?!) but being the best burger in London is not a superlative I use lightly. The Bleecker Black could be exactly that. The best burger in London.

The make up of this burger is almost embarrassingly simple, but no less magical for it.  Let me explain.

Hello loyal burger fans.

This has been an excellent year for Burger Me!, and today is the 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of this blog. I can't believe its gone by so quickly. Doing some rough maths I reckon I've taken down around 100 burgers this year (that only averages out at 2 a week...) and blogged more than fifty different burger restaurants and burger events. So, with that in mind, what better way to wind down 2011 than with a pictorial competition of the best burgers in London (and the worst).
